The high court has stopped residents of Kajiado county from paying increased land rates.
Justice Judith Omange issued the conservatory order in an application filed by Sheria mtaani in which it accused the county Governor of Kajiado Joseph Ole lenku for increasing land rates without following proper procedure.
Speaking to journalists at Milimani law court, lawyers Danstan Omari and Shadrack Wambui. Said the conservatory order will save the residents from paying ksh 7000 being the land rates increased by the county government.
They said that the order requires the residents to pay 1500 pending the hearing and determination of the application before the court.
They accused the Governor of increasing the land rates without following proper procedure as provided by the constitution.
The judge directed, the matter be heard interparties on 8th October 2026.
