Several world leaders have shown interests in mutual working relationship in Kenya after President William Ruto publicly criticised the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.
The influx has been attributed to Kenya’s bold move over foreign powers on their architectural model in financing african countries.
In a statement from the Kenya’s Foreign Affairs, Ministry, noted that several heads of state and diplomats have warmed up to visit the country to lay down new structural development as well as signing bilateral trade agreements.
According to Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, President had advocated for many changes including reengineering the International financial architecture to address it’s perceived inequity towards the majority of developing nations
In addition to the International visits by foreign leaders, Mutua emphasised that Ruto’s international travel was a direct result of the effective policies and initiatives he presented at various global events
Ruto’s foreign policy, which is reportedly bold, robust and resolute, the word’s leaders are seeking to establish mutual partnerships with Kenya.
“It’s essential to note that the President remains the primary driver of kenya’s foreign policy.
Global leadership, financial experts and economists continue to echo the President’s views on these global and strategic issues,” part of the statement read
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, German Chancellor Olaf Svholz, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, Iran President Raisi Ebrhim and Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida are among the leaders who have visited kenya since January 2023. Mutua added that Ruto’s aspirations for the Buttom-UP economic model were also consistent with his advocacy for global change
However, French President Emmanuel Macron assured Ruto that his administration would advocate for equitable resource distribution.
