The high court has issued an order quashing a decision of a matatu Sacco tribunal suspending the operation of Nicco movers matatus from conducting public transport along Thika road.
Vacation judge justice Janet Mulwa said the decision of the tribunal to suspend the operations of 159 Matatus stands halted.
The agreaved Sacco through their lawywer Danstan Omari told the court that the decision of the tribunal to suspend the operation of the matatus by the tribunal was so painful and unlawful which court should intervene to save the operators.
He said that it is only one matatu that caused road accident in which police should have taken action against it and not the entire matatus owned by the sacco.
He pointed out that the 159 matatus employs a quite a number of people who supports their families and the decision of the tribunal was not well reasoned.
The Judge directed the application be served upon all the respondents and the matter be heard inter-parties on 22nd september 2026.
