The Cabinet Secretary for East Africa Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development Ms Peninah Malonza on yesterday assured Mutha/Mathima development caucus that Canaan is nearing

In a closed door meeting with Mathima think tankers on Tuesday 30th January, at her office, the CS, promised to turn around the arid areas of Mutha to an agricultural economic hub that will attract investors from across the country

“My Ministry is committed in construction of boreholes and sand dams as well as springs in partnership with the non-governmental organisations aiding poverty eradication,” Malonza briefed the team led by GK Nzingu alias GK

In alleviating hunger and drought, CS noted that there are plans that National Drought Management Authority which is domiciled in her docket will soon start rolling out earmarked programmes to minimise effects of climate change in the region

“Mutha and some parts of Mwingi Tseikuru and Nuu are mapped to be remote areas despite the status of marginalization, we therefore need to join hands in helping me achieve the most desirable dreams for my people,” she added

The team appreciated CS’s commitment on prioritizing the most sought projects and forfeiting her busy schedules to meet them as she thanked them for courtesy visit and showing a gesture of the unity which is an ingredient to likeminded people towards achieving common societal growth

She further hinted on government’s intention for boosting farmer’s morale through buying mung beans known as ndengu on a standardised fair prices

This, is, to support their economic cash crop because cartels do camp nearby shopping centres during the crop’s season; buying at Kshs 65 per kilograms which ain’t the market fair price

Job Opportunities and Youth Empowerment

Youth empowerment was also discussed on lengthy as well as linking job opportunities to our professional youths and skilled ones who have overstayed being jobless because of the poor leadership and bad representation by section of leaders
