The Government has released new dates to pave way for the highly anticipated August 9th general elections in 2022, giving room for all elementary and secondary schools nationwide to take a break.

This, according to Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof. George Magoha, is to allow many primary and secondary schools to be used as polling stations.

The break will also provide time for the upcoming general elections to proceed in a smoother way and in a disruptive manner

According to today’s Daily Nation publication, all primary and secondary schools will take a half-term holiday on August 6, 2022

“One-week holiday, which will end on August 13, 2022, students will return to their  educational institutions to continue with their coursework for the rest of term 2 of the 2022 academic year,” It noted

The break will be caused by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s use of many public primary and secondary schools as polling places and tallying facilities during the national elections in August

This, will also act, as a breathe, for the many teachers both from secondary and primary schools those had applied and successfully been shortlisted for as polls officials
