Magarini Constituency will be like in a titanic battle between the opposition’s heavy weights and the government, each side, trying to outshine one another
All eyes and roads including air transport will be wide open, as Magarini Constituency is now gearing to go back to the polls following the court’s decision.
President William Ruto and Azimio Leader Raila Odinga are expected to face off or clash in anticipated mini-polls that will attract heavy weights both from government and opposition
This is after the ODM party suffered a blow after after the Court of Appeal upheld the nullification of Magarini Member of Parliament Harrison Gharama Kombe’s victory at the August 2022 polls.
Kombe flew the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party flag in the 2022 General Election, and was declared winner after garnering 11,946 votes.
His competitor who took him to court vied under, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, Mr Stanley Kenga, and garnered 11,925 votes.
The court held that Kombe’s appeal against the lower court’s decision nullifying his win had no solid grounds to warrant overturning the said ruling.
The ball now remains under, Independent Elecotral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that is set to issue a new date for the mini-polls in Magarini Constituency
