Gachagua vows to move to Supreme Court to challenge High Court Ruling

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has vowed to move to the apex court to challenge the High Court decision yesterday that upheld his impeachment by senate from the office of the deputy president

Speaking to media on Tuesday, Gachagua maintained that his rights were violated and was not given fair hearing, a part that was acknowledged by high court judge bench, maintaining that he will exhaust all available legal processes to make sure that he gets justice served to him and his supporters  

Gachagua, however has rejected Ksh 50 million damages awarded by High Court after ordering senate to pay him for unfairly dismissing him without the right of reply since he was in hospital, and would have been awaited to defend himself before the chamber

‘‘The 50 million Kenya shillings awarded to me is an insult to my parliamentary rights and freedoms, and a mockery of the constitution. We are not here for that. Money was never needed here.  Justice and constitutional supremacy is key.

I am one Kenyan leader who will not and cannot be swayed by choices of money to allow violation of the constitution. I stand as a matter of principle to protect constitutional rights and defend the constitution,’’ he maintained.

Additionally, Gachagua disclosed that he is retiring to Wamunyoro home for the next 45 days to hold consultative meetings which will culminate by identifying one presidential candidate ahead of the next general election

He said that will accept all the outcome should the people of central and by extend his co- principles whoever will be nominated by the opposition fraternity

After this weekend, we will have a series of political negotiations we are moving now into the phase of strategy to identify one single presidential candidate, and am going to meet stakeholders, opinion leaders and all the people who matter to seek mandate and authority

I wish to confirm to my supporters across the country that I am eligible to serve on the 10th of August 2027 should the formula with my co-principles favours me as a single presidential candidate,’’ he reiterated

Gachagua allegedly claimed that Kenyans are feeling the high cost of living, embezzlement of public resources and extra judicial killings and violations of human rights being perpetrated by criminals and rogue police officers
