NAIROBI, July 13, 2026 — Global smartphone manufacturer TECNO has intensified competition in Kenya’s premium smartphone segment with the launch of the POVA Curve 2 5G, a device aimed at the country’s growing population of young professionals, entrepreneurs, content creators and gamers seeking high-performance technology at a competitive price.
Priced at KSh59,999, the new smartphone reflects the company’s strategy of capturing consumers who demand premium features such as extended battery life, high-speed connectivity and large storage capacity without paying the higher prices typically associated with flagship devices.
The launch comes as Kenya’s digital economy continues to expand, with smartphones increasingly serving as essential tools for business operations, mobile banking, e-commerce, content creation and remote work. This has driven manufacturers to compete not only on pricing but also on innovation, performance and user experience.
Speaking during the launch in Nairobi, TECNO Kenya Marketing Manager Mildred Agoya said the company designed the device to meet the changing needs of a young and ambitious consumer market.
“Across Kenya, young people are building businesses, growing careers, creating brands and moving between multiple opportunities every day. Their smartphones must be able to keep up without forcing them to choose between power, design and personal identity,” she said.

The POVA Curve 2 5G’s standout feature is its 8,000mAh battery, housed within a slim 7.42-millimetre curved body weighing approximately 195 grams. TECNO says the engineering breakthrough allows users to enjoy extended battery life without sacrificing portability or design.
The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G processor and comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, specifications intended to support intensive multitasking, high-definition streaming, mobile gaming and professional content creation. Buyers will also receive 256GB of complimentary TECNO Cloud storage for three years, expanding storage options for personal and business data.
Recognising the growing importance of reliable connectivity, the smartphone supports 5G and eSIM technology and incorporates dual signal enhancement chipsets designed to improve network reception in environments where mobile connectivity is often weak, including office buildings, lifts and underground parking facilities.
The device also features fingerprint and facial recognition security, alongside a 180-day broken-screen warranty and a 13-month device warranty, offering additional protection for consumers.
Agoya said the launch reflects TECNO’s broader commitment to delivering technology that supports everyday productivity and entrepreneurship.
“Kenya has a young, ambitious and highly connected population that expects more from its technology. By combining powerful performance, long-lasting battery life, premium design and reliable connectivity, we are delivering a device that supports real consumer needs and everyday ambitions.”
Industry analysts note that smartphone manufacturers are increasingly targeting Kenya’s youthful population, where demand is shifting from entry-level devices towards smartphones capable of supporting digital businesses, online learning, entertainment and content creation. As disposable incomes gradually improve and digital adoption accelerates, competition is expected to intensify in the mid-range and premium smartphone categories.

The POVA Curve 2 5G is now available through official TECNO retail stores, authorised dealers, mobile network partners and online sales platforms across Kenya. Customers can secure pre-orders with a KSh2,000 deposit, with the device retailing at a recommended price of KSh59,999.
The launch reinforces TECNO’s strategy of strengthening its footprint in one of Africa’s fastest-growing smartphone markets, where innovation, affordability and performance are becoming key drivers of consumer purchasing decisions.
