Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has warned small scale traders that those obstructing county officers from performing their duties will be dealt accordingly as per the laws of the land
Speaking during the County Public Address on 4th April 2024 at City Hall, the governor put record straight that he will not allow intimidation and obstruction when his officers are diligently performing their duties as per tue constitution
“To set the record straight there’s no problem recording officers as they perform their duties, if anything it leads to increased accountability, you can even shoot a movie if you want. What we wil not accept is obstructing them or inciting the public against them as they perform their duties,” Sakaja warned
The governor thanked finance department as well as county revenue officials for sealing corruption loopholes as they aim to collect sh 60 billion come 2016/2027 financial year
He called upon members of county assembly to help him actualize the dreams of making Nairobi work as he sets aside sh 23 million for each ward under ward development fund
Sakaja disclosed that there are 85 projects within the city of Nairobi which are worth 1.5 billion shillings
“We rolled out the unified business permit beginning this year and it is already making it easier to do business in Nairobi. Our people no longer have to go to different offices to seek different licenses. All licenses are available in one stop shop,” he stated
The governor further warned those planning to charge Kenyans while ta king recreation at already yet launched Uhuru Park Gardens that they will be prosecuted
He assured Nairobians of hiring security officers to man the facility 24 hours clock so as to enable residents enjoy the fruits of devolution as he embarks on renovating other five recreational facilities among them jevanjee, central park, uhuru market and jacaranda grounds in Embakasi
Sakaja pointed out that the politics of divisions and party hatred is something of the past as he has worked tirelessly to bring all leaders together to perform for the citizens
On school feeding programme the governor said the provisions of breakfast and lunch in all public primary schools has seen made a significant increased enrolment of school going children within Nairobi
He pointed out that some families in Nairobi were not able to take their children to school because of malnutrition something that thanked President William Ruto for allocating Sh1 billion from the Ministry of Education in order to fund the project
