The Sunday Nation reported earlier today that President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga had formed a five-member committee to select Azimio la umoja One Kenya’s running mate.
Raphael Tuju, John Kinyua, Jeremiah Kioni, Junet Mohamed, and an unnamed Wiper party member whose identity could not be immediately established are reportedly among the five members.
And now, after the reports were brought to his attention during a press conference in Nairobi today, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has reacted strongly.
According to TV47, In this regard, the Wiper party leader has distanced himself from reports and stated that only President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, and himself have the mandate to select Azimio la umoja One Kenya coalition party running mate.
“Why would you want my brother Raila to be president when his running mate for the two times 2013 and 2017 is out? There will be discussions between President Uhuru, Raila Odinga, and myself… I’m not aware of the team you’re referring to ” he stated.
He also expressed confidence that he is the best candidate to deputize Raila Odinga, questioning why Raila Odinga would want to form government without his running mate in the previous two general elections.
