- University lobby group endorse Wilfred Kimathi of ODM to take over Karen Ward Member of County Assembly in Nairobi county
- The philanthropist Kimathi has shaped lives of many residents in the area unlike incumbent MCA David Mberia
- His manifesto in awarding bursaries to students and comrades regardless of where they come from, and making Karen as an ICT hub, putting in place infrastructural development programmes, has made him man of the people
Karengeta Student Association which is an umbrella body of university leaders from across the seven Universities in Karen Ward have unanimously agreed to front one Wilfred Kimathi for Member of County Assembly position
In a document seen by safinews.co.ke on Wednesday 30th March, signed by their upcoming MCA, Mr Kimathi, the student leaders have endorsed him to take over from incumbent MCA David Mberia due to his resounding track record
“Honourable Kimathi is a leader with a distinct track record from the private sector he has been for the last 22 years.
“This demonstrates that he is trusted person who does whatever he says, notably he has good listening skills and above all God fearing leader,” Cooperative University of Kenya President Obiero quoted
According to photos doing rounds in Karen political platforms is that, Kimathi has won the hearts of the many residents by his philanthropic activities supporting small and medium enterprise groups
He has also been in the front line in championing for innovations and ICT related skills as well nurturing talents for Karen Ward youths
The student lobby group now want to edge out the incumbent MCA and immediate former University of Moi president Edward Maloba from the race for they lack competencies, skills and abilities to lead Karen people
“We are resoundingly agreeing that, from the above experiences and what he has promised comrades, we shall marshal our support from all corners of Karen Ward and deliver a good leadership going forward,” They maintained
They further added that they will support him unconditionally and unequivocally
