Police have invaded and surrounded former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi at his Karen home in a bid to arrest him.
It’s not clear the cause for his arrest as pundits terms it as a vengeful mission by the President William Ruto
It was reported that police barricaded the home of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi at Karen, putting him under siege and risking his life
Meanwhile, Azimio la Umoja Coalition Leader Raila Odinga has already promptly headed there and camped at Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi’s Karen home to block the EACC and elite Police from arresting him over unspecified reasons.
Odinga has left from his comfort bedroom in Nairobi’s suburbs Karen to show solidarity and fight for the democracy which seems to be in trial
“If Matiangi has committed any crime, should be ordered to appear into a court of law for specific charges during daytime. Why arrest him at night? We can’t allow this to happen to any Kenyan, arresting someone of higher calibre at night brings back the memories of Moi regime and we shall not accept this, it’s barbaric!. I want to reiterate and remind Kenyans that we are dealing with illegal government that was imposed by one rogue Wafula Chebukati and we should not accept such imposition of illegal system into our beloved country,” Raila pointed out unwavering
The move by the current regime has sparked mixed reactions from kenyans, many terming it autocratic and outdated forceful administration of justice
However, safinews.co.ke has learnt that battery of lawyers over two hundred have camped at Matiangi’s home to make sure he is not arrested rather taken to court to answer any charges levelled against him
But according to constitutional lawyer Danstan Omari is that there is no crime that the former minister has committed and therefore his dignity ought to have upheld by the current regime without provoking calmed temperatures
“We don’t know the intention of invading Matiangi’s home at this time of night. We don’t know why they want to arrest him and where they want to take him at night. The constitution doesn’t envisage such criminality. We can confirm and tell all Kenyans that our client’s life is at risk. We thought civility must be order of the day,”Constitutional Lawyer Danstan Omari pointed vehemently.
Omari, has further hinted that they will not leave the compound even with an inch until tomorrow morning or daylight so as to make sure their client is not harmed by the ‘rogue security officers’
