Nairobi County Officials Inspect Hawkers’ Compliance with Governor Sakaja’s Directive

Nairobi City County Chief Officer for Markets and Trade, Jane Wangùi for markets and Trade, today joined County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Business and Hustler Opportunities, Dr. Anastasia Nyalita, in an inspection exercise to assess compliance with Governor Johnson Sakaja’s directive on hawking regulations. The directive requires hawkers to operate only in designated backlanes or approved trading spaces to enhance order and dignity in the city.

The inspection covered key backlanes, including Tsavo, Giborone, Taveta, and Timboroa, among others. The exercise aimed to ensure that hawkers are following the county’s guidelines, which seek to create a structured and organized trading environment that benefits both vendors and city residents.

Governor Sakaja’s vision for Nairobi is centered on transforming the city into a space of order and dignity, where businesses can thrive in a well-regulated environment.
