By MINA Media August 6, 2026_ Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has praised the work of the Special Operations Group (SOG), saying the multi-agency unit has largely eradicated banditry and terrorism in the Kerio Valley and other parts of the country.
“More than 2,000 guns and 15,000 rounds of ammunition have been seized from bandits and terrorists,” he said.
The CS was speaking when he presided over the 11th Special Operations Group graduation ceremony at Kamanga Training Camp in Samburu County.
The CS commended the 122 officers for successfully completing the six-and-a-half-month training, urging them to serve Kenyans with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, while highlighting the critical role the group plays in keeping the country safe.
“You are called upon to confront violent extremism, disrupt organised criminalnetworks, combat cross-border threats, protect critical national infrastructure, and support specialised operations where precision, discipline, and professionalism are paramount,” he told the officers.

He further commended the National Intelligence Service and National Police Service for the achievement, while reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting reforms in the security sector aimed at transforming it into an effective and people-centred one.
He was accompanied by Director General, National Intelligence Service, Noordin Ali, Deputy Inspector General (APS) Gilbert Masengeli, and other senior security officials.Ends
