President William Ruto has divulged that he was walked the talk by ensuring that those who had been blacklisted by credit reference bureau have been uplifted 

Speaking on Sunday 2nd July, 2023 during a church service in Molo, Nakuru County, The Head of State pointed out that millions of Kenyans who had been given red spot in CRB have been removed. 

“We have made that commitment come true. Seven million Kenyans who were blacklisted in CRB all of them have been removed,”. President Remarked. 

In a joint press conference with CEOs of Safaricom, KCB and NCBA, last year, The head of state promised that Kenyans would be removed from CRB to allow formal borrowing.

The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Stated,”I am very happy that between four to five million Kenyans will be out of the CRB blacklist by the beginning of November.”

“This is very important; 4 million Kenyans have been excluded from any formal borrowing because of blacklisting. They have been left at the mercy of shylocks,” he added.

He further pleaded with Central Bank Governor, Dr Kamau Thugge to change the model of listing to avoid being a disadvantage to borrowers.

He stated,”Governor please explain to our people in the CRB space that we should change the model of listing so that we do not make an all-or-nothing process, and unfairly disadvantage borrowers.”
