Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has raised concerns about what he perceives as interference by President William Ruto in the reconstitution process of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Kalonzo called on the President to exercise transparency and fairness in the selection of the nine-member panel tasked with overseeing the critical process of re-constituting the electoral body
Addressing the press on Friday at SKM command center Kalonzo criticized how the IEBC selection panel is being constituted, claiming that the process appears skewed in favor of certain political interests.

According to him, the impartiality and independence of the IEBC are vital for the country’s democratic governance and must not be compromised by undue influence or political favoritism
“This country belongs to all of us, and the integrity of our electoral systems must be protected at all costs. President Ruto must come clean and ensure that the nine-member panel tasked with reconstituting the IEBC is beyond reproach,” Kalonzo stated.

He expressed support for the ongoing legal battles in court that aim to address issues surrounding the reconstitution process. He specifically highlighted the recent petition filed in Kiambu, which seeks to annul certain aspects of the process, arguing that it raises significant questions about fairness and inclusivity.
He noted that any attempt to manipulate the reconstitution process could have far-reaching consequences, including eroding public trust in the country’s electoral systems.
“The IEBC is not just an institution; it represents the voice and will of the people. We must safeguard its independence and ensure it reflects the diversity of our nation,” Kalonzo said.
The former vice president urged President Ruto to engage all political stakeholders in a bipartisan manner to guarantee a fair and transparent process. He proposed the inclusion of more voices from civil society, religious organizations, and marginalized groups to ensure the IEBC represents the interests of all Kenyans.
