Former Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut who was the former Personal Assistant to Moi’s era most feared Minister Nicholas Biwott alias Total Man, has died, the family has confirmed.
The former MP is said to have collapsed at his home and was taken to Mediheal Hospital in Parklands where he was pronounced dead.
Chepkut died on Saturday morning while receiving treatment at Mediheal Hospital in Parklands, the chain hospital, owned by the gynecologist former Kesses Member of Parliament Dr Kiprop Mishra Swarup.
He is said to have died of a blood clot and high blood pressure.
Last year, Chepkut had been admitted to hospital and remained in admission for two months following an accident at a hotel, where he missed a step and fell down a flight of stairs, rolling over several times.
On the morning of Wednesday, October 13, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi visited the MP in the facility to check on his progress. “This morning I paid a visit to my friend and colleague who is currently receiving treatment in the hospital? I wish you a speedy recovery,” he said
He also had an accident which necessitated his being taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Chepkut was MP for Ainabkoi between 2017 and 2022.
He tried to defend his seat as an Independent candidate, but was unsuccessful.
He lost to Samuel Chepkonga of UDA party whom he had beaten in 2017 after the latter served two terms
The late, was a highly humorous politician who always referred to himself as “the only soul alive”.
He was also down to earth MP, highly social and frequently caused surprises when he visited his constituency using boda boda.
Previously he operated two popular hotels in Eldoret where he also owns a farm in Ainabkoi constituency
