Malonza urges Kitui residents to continue supporting national development programs
She called political leaders to desist from making inflammatory statements and instead remain united.

KITUI — Former Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza has stepped up her grassroots campaign for the Kitui gubernatorial seat, using a series of community empowerment programmes across the county to rally support ahead of the 2027 General Election.
On Friday, July 24, Malonza joined UDA leaders at Kwa Mukuma Grounds in Matinyani Ward, Kitui West Constituency, during a women empowerment programme attended by hundreds of residents and local leaders.
A day later, Malonza continued her grassroots engagements at Matulani Primary School Grounds in Yatta/Kwa Vonza Ward, Kitui Rural Constituency, where she joined fellow UDA leaders during another community empowerment programme.
Addressing residents, she emphasized that economic empowerment remains key to improving livelihoods and creating sustainable opportunities for families across the county.
Malonza reiterated her appeal for support in the 2027 gubernatorial race, promising visionary, inclusive and people-centred leadership focused on development, quality healthcare, education, improved infrastructure and reliable water services
She said accountable county leadership working closely with the national government would accelerate service delivery and position Kitui for greater economic growth.
She lauded President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration for rolling out development projects in Kitui County, saying investments in roads, water projects, electricity connectivity, education, affordable housing and economic empowerment programmes were improving the lives of residents.
At the same, Malonza officially marketed her 2027 gubernatorial candidature, saying she has the experience and vision needed to transform Kitui through inclusive leadership.
“You need to take up advantage of government empowerment programmes, because they have the potential to uplift households, create jobs and stimulate local economic growth, ” She stated
The former Cabinet Secretary pledged to prioritize job creation, strengthen agriculture, improve healthcare services, expand access to clean water, empower women and youth, and ensure equitable distribution of development projects across all parts of the county.
She sought Kitui residents to continue supporting the national government, arguing that close collaboration between the county and the national administration would accelerate development and unlock more investment opportunities.
Malonza encouraged locals to continue supporting the national government’s development agenda, saying stronger collaboration between the national and county governments would accelerate service delivery and attract more investments to the region.
Calling for unity, Malonza urged leaders and residents to put aside political differences and work together for the county’s prosperity.
“Together, we can build a prosperous, inclusive and economically empowered Kitui where every resident has an opportunity to thrive,” she said.
The empowerment forums attracted large crowds, with participants expressing support for continued community empowerment initiatives aimed at improving household incomes and enhancing socio-economic development across the county.
