EAC, ASALs and Regional Development CS Malonza urges youth to stop being misused by politicians
She challenges them to create content and monetize instead of spending a lot of energy on political theatrics
She was advising section of youth drown from three Ukambani counties who converged at her office to pledge their loyalty
The Cabinet Secretary for East Africa Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development Hon. Peninah Malonza has urged Ukambani youths to support President William Ruto at the grassroots level since no one would beat him come 2027
In a candid conversation with 15 youths representing three Ukambani counties who had visited her office on Tuesday 16th April, Malonza reminded kamba nation that it will be a tall order for anyone to challenge Dr Ruto in 2027 if they failed to defeat him in 2022 when all government machinery were against him
“Let us be honest with ourselves, no one including our son Kalonzo Musyoka will be in a position to challenge H.E President William Ruto! If they failed when he was Deputy President, it will just be a walk-over and the only option for us is to rally behind the President so that we can be favoured in development,” Malonza urged Ukambani youths
She however disclosed that they have opened an office together with the Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection to help find opportunities for those seeking to be recruited abroad
The CS also challenged youngsters to shun from abusive politics and tone down their anger against those opposing their candidates and instead use the same energy in creating online contents through YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook as well as Instagram
He informed them that President William Ruto has entered into an agreement with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg that will saw commercialisation of all Facebook accounts and Facebook groups during June visit into the country over mutual agreement
Malonza called youths to monetize their contents instead of being misused by politicians when they are given Sh 200 to bully and use unpalatable language on others on whatsapp groups and other social media platforms
She particularly pitied Mutomo youths who vandalised public Wi-Fi which had been installed by her counterpart Information Communication, Technology and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owallo
“The resultants of vandalizing the WiFi which would upscaled many youths in applying online jobs has resulted to only one person who applied for Kenya Wildlife Service job from Kitui South Constituency due to poor internet connectivity.
Some people thought they are punishing me for bringing those government incentives but you see, you are punishing your own kids. That is opportunities gone, may be more than 10 youths would have applied but only one did,” she reminded those against government’s agenda
She further recounted how people from far Mutha Ward and Athi Ward were pleading with her to intervene while their children had not participated in an online application which was the first requirement
Through their representatives requested for empowerment by participating fully in social economic programmes aimed at alleviating poverty and illiteracy as well as addressing drought mitigation measures
They also thanked CS Malonza for compensating victims of human-wildlife when she was heading Tourism and Wildlife docket after 14 years of hapless as well as pledging loyalty and supporting government’s agenda
Malonza assured the youth that her current ministry will address drought menace and food shortage in those regions been lagging behind in development and social status wise
