Tickets for the highly anticipated clash between German football giants Bayern Munich and Dutch side AFC Ajax will officially go on sale on Thursday, November 5, at 6.00 p.m., ahead of the historic inauguration of the Raila Odinga International Stadium at Talanta Sports City.

The January 5, 2027 encounter is expected to attract international attention, with both clubs committing to field their strongest available first-team squads, dismissing speculation that the fixture could feature former players or academy teams.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said the two clubs had provided written commitments to present their best possible starting elevens, underlining the significance attached to the inaugural match.

In a statement issued on Thursday, November 5, Mvurya said preparations for the international football spectacle were at an advanced stage, with the Government seeking to deliver a memorable sporting and entertainment experience.

Tickets will be available exclusively through the official Talanta Sports City website, with prices starting at Sh2,500 across different seating categories.

Supporters have been cautioned against purchasing tickets through unauthorised platforms or making payments to unverified accounts amid concerns over possible fraud targeting football fans.

The event will also feature a 12-hour fan festival, international entertainment, dedicated concierge services and other activities designed to celebrate football and showcase Kenya’s sporting and cultural potential.

Premium hospitality packages and skyboxes will also be available for fans seeking an exclusive matchday experience.

Mvurya said the fixture was part of Kenya’s broader ambition to establish itself as a leading destination for international sporting events, attract investment and expand opportunities in sports tourism.

He noted that the event would also demonstrate the country’s ability to commercially utilise modern sporting infrastructure while ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the new facility.

The Cabinet Secretary disclosed that the match had been fully funded through private-sector support, describing the involvement of corporate partners as a demonstration of growing confidence in Kenya’s sports industry.

Beyond the stadium’s inauguration, the encounter will provide an important opportunity to assess Kenya’s preparedness to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON PAMOJA) alongside Uganda and Tanzania.

The match is expected to offer a practical assessment of stadium operations, security arrangements, transport systems, hospitality services, crowd management and other critical facilities under international match conditions.

Mvurya said the AFCON 2027 Local Organising Committee had been directed to take the lead in coordinating and executing the event in collaboration with relevant government ministries, agencies, sports stakeholders and private-sector partners.

The January 5 fixture will bring together two of Europe’s most decorated football clubs, both with multiple UEFA Champions League titles to their names.

The encounter is expected to provide Kenyan football supporters with a rare opportunity to watch top European clubs compete on home soil while placing the country on the international sporting calendar.

The inauguration of the Raila Odinga International Stadium is expected to mark a significant milestone in Kenya’s efforts to strengthen its sporting infrastructure and position itself as a destination for major international competitions.
