Wiper Democratic Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has continued to stamp his authority as Ukambani kingship after sweeping almost all Kitui’s elective seats

This is after the Monday 29th August, 2022 Kitui Rural Constituency’s by-election drew the line on who is to command the area as wiper candidate took early lead on provisional results as of now

According to data provided by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of casted votes as of 2230HRS, Kitui Rural Member of Parliament David Mboni Mwalika who is seeking re-election was far ahead of his opponent standing at 19,750 of the total votes cast

It is undoubtedly that, Mwalika has already won the race to serve another term of five years, a sign to prove Kalonzo’s political prowess in lower eastern region, beating his closest rival under Mr Ruto hands down

The United Democratic Alliance candidate former MP Charles Nyamai came distance second garnering 9,873 votes out of 21,123 votes casted on today’s mini polls

Kitui Rural has a total of 54,601 registered voters, thus registering low turnout of today’s by-election following the people’s voter apathy, due to economic related factors contributed by poor leadership

The counting, tallying and verification exercise took place at Southern Eastern Kenyan University at Kwa Vonza where both candidates are awaiting the official announcement from the constituency’s IEBC Returning Officer

Earlier fist-fight ensued between the Kitui East Member of Parliament Nimrod Mbai of UDA and his closest rival Miltonic Mwendwa Kitute of Wiper Party at Mbitini where they crashed accusing each other of political intolerance

Kitute had blaimed Mbai of voter bribery at Mbitini Ward where their cars were totally damaged by the rowdy youths as the former was rushed into hospital after sustaining bullet injuries from unknown spent cartridges
