“We are investing Sh15 billion in Wajir County to build 18 modern markets, 2,000-bed student hostels and 4,600 affordable housing units, initiatives that will expand economic opportunities, improve living standards and create jobs for the residents,” Ruto

The affordable housing programme is expected to provide homes for thousands of families while generating employment opportunities for residents through construction and related service

The markets are designed to provide traders with improved facilities and boost commerce in various parts of the county, while the student hostels are expected to increase access to accommodation for learners pursuing higher education.

During his visit to Eldas Constituency on Tuesday, the President laid the foundation stone for a 580-bed hostel project at Eldas Teachers Training College. The facility is expected to help address accommodation shortages and support efforts to expand access to teacher education in the region

Ruto also commissioned the Sh460 million Eldas Water Supply Project and announced an additional Sh900 million allocation to further improve water access for residents.
