The country has been engulfed of tears after the passing on of Former Education Minister Prof George Magoha, at Nairobi Hospital, the family has confirmed

Prof. Magoha, who has died at 71, his body has been taken to Nairobi’s Lee Funeral Home after breathing his last breath on January 24th, 2023 

According to the information from the family’s friend Walter Mwanda is that the late Professor of Surgery, had premonition and died of cardiac arrest

“He was at home preparing burial ceremony for his late young brother Alex Mogoha which is slated on 28th January; he knew his time had come and told wife to call his son and daughter-in-law, I suppose the wife will divulge more details,” Mwanda hinted

According to Mr Mwanda, Magoha collapsed four times and was resuscitated by his son Michael Magoha who is a medical doctor at the Nairobi Hospital, though the forth time couldn’t bring him back, he breathed his last oxygen

“He greeted me and said, ` ooh yes, you have come, he slept off his sitting position and we took him to the car, driver and his son rushed him to Nairobi Hospital, they were 200 metres ahead where he collapsed again, he was resuscitated but on reaching the hospital, collapsed his final,” He added 

This comes barely weeks after he had been appointed as Professor of Surgery at Maseno University, following his illustrious career and performance in public entities  

When, he was appointed by the retired former President Uhuru Kenyatta to head the Education Ministry from the corridors at the University of Nairobi, he was fierce in combating exam cheating and he brought sanctity in the education sector

This remarkable stoppage of exam linkages had made the country cry for him to be returned in the education docket following last year, 2022’s KCSE anomalies especially in Gusii land

Several Leaders have flooded internet sending their heartfelt condolences to the family and the country at large, remembering Magoha as a former  reformist and hardworking public servant in his years 

The leaders including the Azimio’s leader Raila Odinga has condoled with the nation and the family for such great loss 

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Prof. George Magoha, a transformational leader, illustrious scholar, dedicated public servant, and distinguished medical doctor who left an indelible mark on our country’s education system. 1/2,” Raila tweeted
