Northern lawmakers demands Jirongo probed over outrageous remarks

Section of Lawmakers from North Eastern region have accused successive governments of  systematically keeping them underdeveloped since Kenya got her independence in 1963

Expressing their anger on Tuesday 9th April at Parliament buildings, the legislators demanded commencement of Isiolo-Mandera road which was funded by world bank at a staggering budget of Sh 2 billion several years backĀ 

“The dilapidated status of our roads is effecting the lives of millions of kenyans. Is it because we were marked as people who can’t offer anything? Today we have contributed to the economy of this country by producing high quality meat from the region. Why no single road was constructed to completion since independence? Wajir South MP Mohammed Adow questioned the current government 

They claimed the said amount was partly used to built Kericho-Maralal Road instead of their region and the balance is still lying at Treasury without being directed to the intended purpose

Mr Adow said the dilapidated and untarmacked status of several roads within the region makes it impassable during the rainy seasons as well being used as hideouts for criminal elements who ends up shooting passengers in any playing buses 

Tarbaj lawmaker Hussein Abdi Bare called Director of Criminal Investigation to summon former presidential aspirant  Cyrus Jirongo for making insensitive remarks that North Eastern region was used by former governments as a dumping site for toxic waste

Jirongo alleged that first President and Second President of the Republic of Kenya used the region by disposing toxic chemicals and weapons, sentiments that rattled leaders from the region 

“We want DCI to interrogate this particular leader the velocity of his sentiments- he might divulge more on what we don’t know!. Maybe and I repeat maybe that’s the reason we are experiencing many cancer patients from the region,” Barre questioned the authenticity of reknown politician’s remarks

They said students and mothers from the region finds it difficult to go to school and carry out their daily activities since their roads are always in pathetic conditions as if they don’t contribute to national’s gross domestic product
