Nearly six decades since Kenya’s Independence, Tseikuru Ward in Mwingi North Sub-County has remained without a single inch of tarmac road.
But the residents today witnessed an historic moment as Governor Charity Ngilu commissioned the recently completed kilometer of tarmac road straddling Tseikuru trading center.
The road was done under the Governor’s dustless town programme aimed at upgrading streets in all towns across the county to bitumen standards thereby guaranteeing traders an enabling business environment.
Speaking during the project handover to Musangi, she said that she has budgeted for the extension of the tarmac in the subsequent financial years.
The Governor also issued sixteen youth, women, and other organized groups from Tseikuru with empowerment fund cheques worth Sh.1,500,000.
She urged the groups to inject the money into their respective ventures and apply for more funds.
The County Chief later issued over 8,500 title deeds to residents of Muumoni Ward in the same Sub-County.
She thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his administration for the cooperation they accorded her government in implementing the area’s land adjudication.
“It is such a pleasure to fulfill the promise I made to you in 2019. Today every land owner will receive their title deed in line with President Kenyatta’s plan to legally settle every Kenyan,” she told wananchi at Katse playground.
Governor Ngilu also announced her plans to roll out countywide registration of all boda boda operators and the subsequent issuance of Smart Driving Licenses to qualified riders.
She noted that the initiative, which will be implemented in conjunction with the Interior Ministry and NTSA, will be cost free for the bodaboda riders.
