- Governor Wavinya away in Nigeria leaving behind health and solid waste crisis in Machakos.
Machakos Professionals under the umbrella Masaku Network United ( MNU) yesterday at Machakos hosted Permanent Secretary to Ministry of Public Service, State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action Ms Veronica Nduva.
The PS Veronica adviced the MACHAKOS professional annual general meeting to gain interest in both national and county governments operations.
Dr. Ancient Kituku former Machakos Health Minister who is the chair MNU, Hon. Magdelena Ndawa MCA Matungulu, and Dr.Mbole among other leaders emphasised the importance of working with the government.
The vibrant Machakos County Oversight Caucus Chair Henry Carlos Kioko urged residents of Machakos to participate in the Oversight activities at the village level.
Kioko said Machakos electorate was now more enlightened and demands to participate in projects set for their villages.
He said this way electorate will be able to make sure no more ghost projects as witnessed by Wavinyas adminstration.
Mr. Kioko disclosed that Wavinya Adminstration has ordered for mining excavators purported to be used for quarry mining.
“We ask the Governor of Machakos if the county government is supposed to venture into mining business or they belong to the governor?”, he questioned.
Kioko added that the CECM Finance must disclose how much public resources were committed.
He further asked if purchasing mining excavators was a priority for the people of Machakos.
Mr. Kioko expressed disappointment with poor services at the MACHAKOS Level 5 and solid waste management.
Kioko said with all these crisis the Governor of Machakos was in Nigeria on her way to COP 28 Dubai.
