Kiambu Senator Karangu Thang’wa, Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo and City Advocate Ndegwa Njiru are camping at DCI HQs demanding immediate release of Juja MP George Koimburi over forceful arrests
Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi was today morning arrested outside his home residence at Kenyatta Road and taken to Directorate of Criminal Investigations Hadquarters for questioning.
While police have not stated the charges he faces, speculation is rife that his arrest is linked to his claims that the government spent Ksh 13 billion on Raila Odinga’s failed AU Commission bid.
This comes just days after he announced plans to impeach Speaker Moses Wetang’ula over alleged violations of a court ruling on parliamentary leadership.
Koimburi is now being interrogated by the detectives on why he made such claims in his X account
He has already recorded statement but not yet released, still locked by the detectives
Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo who doubles up as his legal counsel stated that the charges levelled against the MP are meaningless since someone and any member of parliament can table the evidence
Maanzo further, stated that any member of parliament has a constitutional right to even initiate impeachment motion against President William Ruto for the violations of human rights and other related misappropriation of public resources
Kiambu County Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa first broke the news on Tuesday morning, posting on social media, “DCI at it again. They have arrested Juja MP George Koimburi. Reason? They are yet to say!”
Thang’wa alleged that President William Ruto is the one behind the dramatic arrests and is using the same tactics to intimidate his critiques and those demanding the accountability and transparent of his government

The two are among the fiercest supporters of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and are no strangers to facing consequences as a result.
City attorney Ndegwa Njiru also confirmed the arrest, taking to social media to state that the MP was being held at the DCI headquarters and that he was representing him.
“I am at the DCI headquarters representing Hon. Koimburi, who has been arrested for stating the obvious—that Kasongo spent over Ksh13 billion on Raila’s AUC botched mission. What’s wrong with calling him to account? Is it that the truth hurts?” Njiru opined.
Koimburi made the damning remarks during a church service, accusing the President of using taxpayers’ money to entice African Presidents to vote for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the chairperson of the African Union Commission.
