Gachagua’s 10 Advisors, 98 Staffs Send on Compulsory Leave

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was removed from office by a way of impeachment by National Assembly on 8th September, 2024

Following the communication to Senate, the Senators upheld the decision on 17th September, 2024

President William Ruto appointed Security CS Prof Kithure Kindiki on 18th September, 2024 where the National Assembly approved his nomination

The Embattled Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s 108 Senior Staffs have been demanded to proceed on compulsory leave following the ongoing constitutional process 

In a letter seen by safinews.co.ke on Saturday 19th, written by Office of Deputy President’s Principal Administrative Secretary, Patrick Mwangi and copied to Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, directed all officers holding Job Group U and T to proceed on compulsory leave immediately  

Majority of those affected are Gachagua’s battery of advisors including former Nyeri township lawmaker Ngunjiri Wambugu, former Embakasi West MP George Theuri, Chief of Staff Elizabeth Wakogi, renowned celebrities Njeri Rugene as well as Rose Gakuo, Secretary, State Functions 

“All Officers in Job Group U and T, are hereby directed to proceed on compulsory leave. All Heads of Departments are hereby directed to designate in writing a responsible officer  who will be in charge of their departments and a copy of the same be send to Head of Public Service and Principal Administrative Secretary,” part of the confidential letter read

The letter demands the officers to surrender their services immediately,  the Heads of Departments submits writen documents and ensure conformity to the demand letter, delegating the responsible officers before EAT12000HRs on Saturday 19th, 2024

Additionally, all officers serving under supernumerary contracts have also been directed to proceed on the same compulsory leave, pending the  constitutional process 

Yesterday, Court stopped the swearing in of President William Ruto’s nominee to Deputy President’s Office, Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki, immediately after the National Assembly had approved him 

Gachagua was removed from office by a way impeachment on 17th September, by Senate following the same successful process by the National Assembly on 8th September, 2024

It was an historic removal where 284  MPs removed Gachagua from office on 11 counts of charges while their counterpart the Senate ousted him on five counts of charges among them Gross Misconduct and Serious reasons beyond doubt to believe that he’s committed crimes under section 13(a)1

He is still admitted at Karen Hospital, where his security details were withdrawn the say senators impeached him and left with a paltry of administration officers; a close confident confided to journalists
