Babu Owino Narrates Ordeal Under Police Detention

For the first time after the arrest and subsequent release of Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, has detailed the ordeal he went through under the hands of the police 

Owino who was arrested on Tuesday 18th July at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on arrival from Mombase, said that he was subjected into inhumane torture a

He accused police for denying him food, water and even taking bath for three days he was under detention until the court processed his release on Tuesday 21st July.

“I was handcuffed blindfolded and thrown in a boot of a Subaru car. I was driven into the middle of nowhere and put in a solitary confinement for three days. 

For the three days I was denied food no access to my family and my legal representatives,” Babu narrated painfully

The legislator revealed that he was also denied food, drink and did not bathe for the three days under detention 

Owino wondered that if a parliamentarian can be treated so elected by thousands of Kenyans, it meant that an ordinary Kenyan can be  subjected to worse or even being killed by the police

He maintained that he was innocent and the only crime labelled against him is just fighting for the Kenyans to force the government lower the cost of unga, fuel and other basic commodities  

 However, he categorically said that he remained unbowed despite torture and will continue fighting for the Kenyans, something he believes will add catalyze  the anti government protests 

“I am the voice of the voiceless. You can kill the messenger but you can’t kill the message. I will make sure will continue fighting for the downtrodden because that is my job even when I University student leader,” He vowed
