Members of National Assembly and several United Democratic Alliance leaders from Eastern region have now rooted a possible coalition plan to outshine the dominating Wiper Democratic Movement Party headed by Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka
UDA leaders led by outspoken Kitui East Member of Parliament Nimrod Mbai announced the developments, stating that their intends and mission, is to make UDA party, outlive President William Ruto and remain as South Africa’s, African National Congress (ANC) which has governed the country since 1994.
The announcements came at the sidelines of launching a coalition of aspirants from the Eastern region gunning for various UDA party position in order to guarantee their win in the forthcoming elections slated on December 9th 2023.
Mr Mbai said they had launched a spirited campaign to popularise his Mwala counterpart Vincent Musyoka ‘Kawaya’ to be elected as the party National Organizing Secretary in the December elections among other aspirants for various party positions.
Mbai who is himself gunning for the Kitui County party chairman post said he was working on a coalition to have the Eastern region including Embu and Meru vote for Mr Kawaya as a bloc.
Speaking at a UDA party grassroots sensitization and training of aspirants at Katoloni Seminary Hall in Machakos on Friday Mr Mbai said Mr Kawaya was most suited for the position having served the party well in acting capacity.
“I will lead a spirited campaign to reach out to other counties starting with Embu Governor Hon. Cecily Mbarire who is vying for the National Chairperson position for a possible collaboration between Ukambani Counties and Embu,Tharaka Nithi and Meru Counties,”said Mr Mbai.
Mr Mbai said he will also woo the Ukambani region to vote for Governor Mbarire as the party National Chairperson.
“This way, It will be a sustained effort to guarantee Ukambani region of National Organizing Secretary position currently held by my brother Hon. Kawaya,”he added.
Lower Eastern region comprising of six counties namely Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Machakos, Makueni and Kitui County has a total number of 120 UDA delegates where each county has 20 representatives
Mr Kawaya who also spoke at the meeting appealed to the region to back him for the position adding that President William Ruto had favoured the region by appointing many sons and daughters of the region to various positions in government.
He said there was still room for more appointments from the region and urged staunch party supporters who had not yet been appointed to be patient.
Various speakers at the venue rooted for Mr Mbaluka to clinch the Machakos County UDA Party Chairman and to also be appointed to a government position saying Mr Mbaluka had spent a lot of resources campaigning for the party in the last general election when he vied for the County Senatorial seat.
“Mr Mbaluka l know you are a very good friend of the President and I am sure the President through his prerogative will reward you with a position,”said the Chairman, Special Economic Zones Authority Mr Fred Muteti.
He urged all to embrace the party and be the agents of the President and Mr Kawaya in the region.
Mr Mbaluka called on the government to deliver services to Wananchi to make it easier for those who will be aspiring to various positions to be elected.
The Party elections will be conducted online From December 9th 2023.
