President Uhuru Kenyatta has requested kenyans to elect Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua
Speaking on Wednesday 1st June, 2022 during 59th Madaraka Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi, Uhuru said his administration has recognised women figure in many leading institutions more than his predecessors appealing kenyans not to let him down on August polls General Election
“Since 2013, my administration has appointed women in many leading institutions, I have appointed a woman Chief Justice Martha Koome, Deputy Chief Justice is a woman Philomena Mwilu.
Registrar of Judicial Service Commission is a woman Ann Amadi, all seated at the third arm of government, Supreme Court which is under Judicial Service Commission (JSC)
It’s therefore my wish if it’s the will of Kenyans to elect a pair that has a woman in the second highest office in the republic of Kenya,”. Uhuru’s speech read.
The President said he appointed eleven women in his cabinet in 2013 and have seen their strength in helping administration to achieve
Some of women appointees notable under Uhuru’s government are Ambassador Amina Mohamed, Ambassador Monica Juma, Racheal Omamo, Nancy Gathungu who took over from Auditor General Edward Ouko
He also added that, “The voice of women, youths and people with disability has been heard through establishment of affirmative action,”.
