Kisii Governor Simba Arati on Wednesday 20th March, nominated County Public Service Board Chair Elijah Obebo as his deputy.
The communication was made by Kisii Assembly Speaker Philip Nyanumba during a sitting on Wednesday.
Mr Obebo will have go through vetting by the assembly before they reject or approve his name
This comes barely a day after ousted Kisii Deputy Governor Robert Monda on Tuesday 19th March set off another fire to fight his impeachment in court.
Lawyers representing him said they had applied for ex-parte hearings before Judge Teresa Odera at the Kisii Law Courts late Tuesday.
“Yes we did the filing and the judge granted March 26, 2024, as the hearing date,” stated Wilkins Achoki one of the two lawyers representing Dr Monda.
He is also being represented by lawyer Katwa Kigeni, one of the most influential lawyers in Kenya having represented President William Ruto at International Criminal Court the Hague while he was Deputy President
Judge Odera, in court papers, ordered Tuesday that the same be served to the relevant parties ahead of the hearing.
” I have carefully considered the application dated 18th,03,2024 ex-parte. The same be served. The interparte hearing set 26th, 03,2024 at 10 am,” stated Odera.
Monda is making his last effort to save his political career after the Senate upheld his impeachment after a two-day deliberations.
