President Ruto proposes civil servant’s salaries increase rejecting own

The President William Ruto has put on hold the proposed salary review for senior state officials. 

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission has proposed a review of the salaries of senior state officials including the president, his deputy, other members of the cabinet, MPs and MCAs.

Ruto however said that can wait but salaries of teachers, police officers, KDF officers and other civil servants will be adjusted upwards by 7-10 per cent effective July 1.

“I know there is a proposal by SRC for the increase of salaries of different cadres of both civil servants and other public servants. Because of the economic times we live in, we have approved that salaries of other civil servants can be adjusted beginning tomorrow,” he observed. 

“In the next 30 days, no government services should be paid for in cash. Going forward, the Treasury will have a site of every government service that is  paid for. The expectations of the government is that all revenue must go through pay bill number 222 222 so that treasury can monitor every transactions. 

Ruto noted that over 1000 government pay bills numbers will be shut down so as to centralize one collecting centre of government proceeds 

The President, spoke on Friday 30th June, at Kenyatta International Conference Centre when he unveiled over 5,000 Digital Government Services tagged GavaMkononi.

This is moving from paradigm shift of analogue and congested payments platforms to one Pay Bill Model for all government paid services
