Members of Parliament now led by Embakasi East lawmaker Babu Owino have now demanded the Kenya Revenue Authority [KRA] to furnish parliament with the names of the recently recruited candidates in the just concluded filing of positions in the customs department
Owino through the National Assembly Committee on Diapora Affairs and Migrant Workers wants KRA to release the list of successful candidates and explain the criteria used to employ them as well as opening their portal to ascertain geographical loggings
Lawmakers sought to know if the Kenya Revenue Authority [KRA] employed staffs fairly and if kenyans from across the country got a chance as enshrined in the constitution of competitivenes, regional balance, gender and by merits
“Did you recruit from Nairobi or you extended to other places of the country,” Babu Owino posted questioning
Kenya Revenue Authority defends itself from the lawmakers
However, according to Pamela Ahago, the acting commissioner for customs and border control defended that vacancies were open to all kenyans
She disclosed that successful applicants had already reported for training at Eldoret in Uasin Gishu county, with some whom haven’t yet turned up for the training exercise
Ahago noted successful candidates were picked from across the country in the May advert which was placed by Kenya Revenue Authority and extended the dates of applications from 18th May to 23rd May as well as lowering KCSE grades to D+

Meanwhile the National Treasury and Economic Planning advertised vacancies for over 400 positions
In a notice dated 5th June, the exchequer invited suitable candidates to fill in 426 vacant jobs
Applications are invited from suitably qualified officers serving in the public service for the following vacant positions in the ministries and state departments
Interested and qualified officers are required to make one complete form of PSC 2 revised 2016 to Principal Secretary, National Treasury on or before 30th June, the advertisement read.
