Uhuru urges religious leaders to foster peace-before-during and after general election

President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged the religious leaders to hold this country in prayers towards, during and after the elections. 

Speaking at State House on Friday 8th July, President Uhuru Kenyatta confirmed that he indeed wanted to go to Gatundu after the Supreme Court nullified their victory in 2017 General Election 

“On what’s going around about our meeting in 2017 it’s true I wanted to go to Gatundu if that is what it took to restore peace in the country,” Uhuru noted

The President also said their truce between ODM leader Raila Odinga in what become of famous handshake was for the sake of restoring peace and calmness in the country

He noted that all intelligence reports had indicated that the country was in the risk of disintegration and plunging 

The President regretted how a section of the church has been used to poison the people but while at it, thanked the bigger portion of the clergy that has refused to advance the agenda of hatred and deceit.

He sought clergymen to be ambassadors of peace and support Raila Odinga in his quest for Presidency reassuring them that Mzee had the interests of the GEMA nation at heart.

He spoke this during non-denominational worship and prayer service with Central Kenya Religious Leaders at State House-Nairobi
