Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has lambasted Lands CS Farida Karoney and Kitui South MP Rachael Nyamai for frustrating her efforts to issue title deeds to residents of Ngwani and Vote in Ikanga/Kyatune Ward, Kitui South Sub-County

Addressing wananchi at Ngwani and Vote markets, Ngilu accused CS Karoney and MP Nyamai of conspiring with Kitui Lands registrar to deny her access to the over 4,500 deeds which she was scheduled to distribute to land owners in the area.

“They plotted to have the Kitui registry inexplicably locked so as to make it impossible for me to bring you your title deeds. Shame on them!” she said.

The Governor regretted that it was unfortunate for leaders to play politics with emotive issues like land rights at the expense of their constituents’ welfare.

“Such individuals who put their selfish interests above those of wananchi do not deserve to be called leaders. They are such a disgrace,” she rued.

She wondered where the co-conspirators were when she, together with Lands PS Nicholas Muraguri, initiated the area’s land adjudication exercise in early 2019 only to hijack process at it’s fruition stage.

The county boss, however, warned CS Karoney and MP Nyamai to brace for a bumpy ride saying she would remain unbowed in her mission to arm the locals with the crucial documents.

“The people objecting my efforts to grant the people of Kitui South land rights are keen on concealing the land injustices they have meted out at the locals,” she pointed out.

It also emerged that despite Ngilu’s administration footing the land surveying and titling costs, a bogus observer committee had defrauded the residents over Sh.2 million in the name of survey fees.

The locals revealed that the “committee” demanded Sh.400 and Sh.500 from each of Ngwani and Vote land owners respectively in order to “facilitate” surveying of their pieces of land.

Governor Ngilu vowed to get to the bottom of the fraud noting that she will do everything within her capacity to ensure the residents get their money back.

On matters national politics, the Narc Party Leader urged the locals to back Raila OdingaOdinga’s bid for presidency in the forthcoming general elections.

She termed Raila as the answer to social and economic problems facing the country as he was a visionary leader with a transformative agenda for the country.

She, however, warned the electorate to be wary of DP William Ruto’s sinister scheme to dupe Kenyans into electing him as their next president saying he was bad bad for this country.
