Mumias East MP Peter Salasya was arrested and released on a bond of Kshs 50,000 after slapping MCA where he’s distanced the incident
Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya yesterday distanced the incident where he was captured in video slapping a Member of County Assembly
In a post through his X account the comical legislator stated that he didn’t slap the MCA only his swinging hand produced sharp sound after meeting with MCA’s cheek
“I Peter Salasya, want to categorically state that I didn’t slap anyone. The MCA is the one who brought his cheek where my swinging hand was,” he claimed on the social media.
In a statement that has gone viral same to assault video clip, the MP is insinuating that the friction between his hands and the victim’s cheeks produced a sharp sound that has been mistakenly pronounced as an assault
“The contact between my hand and the cheeks is said to have produced a sharp sound,” he added
He’s now calling his followers and supporters to treat the incident as pure propaganda propagated to tarnish his honourable position
“I don’t remember insulting anyone. Treat it as propaganda,” beseeched
However, the video clip is seen where he tried to instruct the MCA to sit down and after he refused, slapped him on the left cheek
The commotion ensued where attendants intervened to stop the physical fist fighting till a gun shot is heard on the air to disperse the crowd
The MP was arrested thereafter and charged with an assault and causing disturbance where he was released on a cash bond of 50,000 shillings at Kakamega law courts
