Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Hon. Peninah Malonza has held fruitful discussions with Visa International Service Association led by Salvador Perez Galindo, Senior Vice President Government Engagement for Central Europe, Middle East and Africa, Eva Ngigi, Acting General Manager East Africa, Phyllis Kamau Director Government Engagement East Africa.
In the discussions which was held on Sunday 11th December, the CS revealed that her ministry had initiated engagement with Visa International to benefit from their platform which will enable the Ministry to track visitor experiences and expenditures through visa transactions for both domestic and international tourists.
She pointed out that the Tourism Research Institute will be the lead agency in this collaborative partnership. Ms Malonza pledged her support and readiness to continue partnering with VISA International in different areas in the Tourism sector.
The Minister added that the data from this partnership will also help the ministry make informed decisions when marketing our magical destinations.
Ms Malonza, who has been quite busy in delivering her mandate, noted that she was sure that tourism will regain its top spot as the leading foreign exchange earner for Kenya in few days to come.
The meeting also discussed Kenya’s strategic partnership with KWS & VISA International on the “Zuru Kenya Parks App,” among other initiatives on areas of collaboration & support for tourism and wildlife strategic pillars.
