Life footage shows clouds of teargas and protesters trying to cover their faces to reduce effects of gas
Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s security vehicle came under a hail of bullets as police confronted Opposition supporters as they headed to the Central Business District.
It was not immediately known if the bullets hit the occupants of the vehicle.
The rear windows of the vehicle were smashed during the confrontation.
Several other vehicles in the convoy were also damaged.
Raila manoeuvred his way into the Central Business District after being partly blocked by police.

His supporters were braving teargas from police who are seemingly walking to block the crowd’s path to Nairobi’s Central Business District

Some were seen covering the canisters with their sweaters to block the gas’s effects
At some point, someone was heard pleading with the police officers to follow the law and stop being misused by national leaders
“We have nothing harmful, why can’t you let us to CBD buana, please don’t be misused for we are fighting common enemy,” he said.
At Kamukuji grounds, Raila had ordered his troops to use whichever way possible to get to their destined Rome
“There are many ways to reach to Rome when they block one road, we use another one. Today our Rome is called Central Park that is where we shall meet after the Kamukuji rally,” Raila said earlier
The opposition chief had also urged his supporters not to touch people’s properties and instead embrace peace in their journey
