A total of 80 groups of women, youth, people living with disabilities and bodaboda operators in Zombe/Mwitika, Yatta/Kwa Vonza and Migwani Wards today received empowerment funds worth Sh. 4,070,000.
Trade Director Fidelis Mwaniki and Civic Education Assistant Directors Shadrack Musyoki and Jacob Maingi led the cheque distribution exercise.
A section of the beneficiary groups was drawn from Kikuu, Kilaa/Katikoni, Makongo/Kavingo, Malatani, Ngungi/Kanjuni, Thua villages in Zombe/Mwitika Ward, Kitui East Sub-County, and Kanyonyoo in Yatta/Kwa Vonza Ward within Kitui Rural Sub-County.
The rest were spread across Migwani, Nzeluni and Mumbuni villages in Migwani Ward, Mwingi West Sub-County.
The initiative is part of Governor Charity Ngilu’s ambitious agenda to uplift the livelihoods of Kitui residents through her women empowerment and wealth creation programmes.
Vowing to re-elect the county boss in the impending polls, the elated wananchi extolled Ngilu for fulfilling her pledge to put money into their pockets through KCEF and other people-centered programs.
