President William Ruto’s political battle just to get a sizeable junk of votes from the ukambani block which is controlled by former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is yielding the positive results than empty politricks

This is after Ruto’s publicly rebuked Kalonzo as a man who do not have brains since the road leading to his home is still a, weathered having served for more than fifty years in government and as 10th Vice President of the Republic of Kenya

But in a sharp rebuttal, Kalonzo, reminded Head of State that he is the one who consummated the Kibwezi-Mutomo-Kitui-Migwani-Mwingi-Tseikuru- Maua road which was to connect port of Mombasa to Ethiopia

Kalonzo maintained that the mega project was halted by some elements within the late President Kibaki-Kalonzo led government in favor of the subsequent Jubilee government in 2013, while pointing out that this road network to Ethiopiawas commissioned to the Chinese contractor Sinohydro.

The back and forth conundrum has led to President Ruto to order Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) which is a state corporation established under the Kenya Roads Act, 2007, to upgrade Kyuso-Tseikuru road leading to Kalonzo Musyoka’s backyard to neutralize his fierce politics against Kenya Kwanza Administration.

According to gazzete notice on Tuesday 23rd, KeNHA has invited bidders to bid for the upgrading of the said road to bitumen standards

“The Authority hereby invites bids from eligible contractors for the tenders to be funded through the Development Votes. There shall be a mandatory pre-tender site visit as specified in the table below,” said KeNHA.

Under Tender Number KeNHA/2924/2025, the authority intends to strengthen the Kandwia–Kyuso Road and upgrade the Kyuso–Tseikuru (852) Road to bitumen standards.

The pre-tender site visit will be conducted on January 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Kandwia Shopping Centre, while the tender submission and closing will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kenya National Highways Authority Headquarters, Barabara Plaza, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi, Off Mazao Road, Block C – 2nd Floor Board Room.

According to KeNHA, a complete set of tender documents may be obtained by interested bidders from the Kenya National Highways Authority website (www.kenha.co.ke) or the Public Procurement Information Portal (www.tenders.go.ke), or from the office of the KeNHA Supply Chain Management Department during normal working hours upon payment of a non-refundable fee of KSh1,000.00 (One thousand shillings only) in the form of a banker’s cheque payable to the Kenya National Highways Authority.

Bidders are encouraged to download the tender documents from the websites listed above to minimize physical visits to KeNHA offices.

All interested bidders are required to continually check the Kenya National Highways Authority website or the Public Procurement Information Portal for any tender addenda or clarifications that may arise before the submission date.

The ads by KeNHA to rehabilitate the road leading to Kalonzo’s home comes days after President William Ruto complained that the road is dusty and neglected, despite Kalonzo’s long service in previous governments under Presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki.

Kalonzo Denies Neglecting Rehabilitation of Road Leading to His Home

Speaking at a public function, President Ruto questioned how the Wiper Leader, who is eyeing the presidency in 2027, can transform Kenya if he hasn’t developed the road leading to his own home.

However, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka issued a direct rebuttal to President Ruto’s claims, stating that he had not failed to build a road to his home, stating that some of elements including Ruto himself fought his development projects using unorthodox manoeuvres in state house terming them as non economically viable

He also corrected the President’s timeline, noting that he has been in leadership for 40 years, not 50, framing this period as “40 years of serious experience” rather than neglect.
