Kenya Power and Lighting Company had now responded to the viral clip between their officials and Kitui East Legislator Nimrod Mbai
They have said security officers are pursuing Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai following an alleged assault on one of its employees.
In a statement on Tuesday, KPLC General Manager, Human Resources and Administration Cecilia Kalungu said they are working with security agencies.
“They have vowed to ensure that justice for our employees is served,” she added
The security officers will also give recommendations on how to keep the KPLC employees safe as they carry out their duties.
“We assure employees that the Company will provide them with the necessary support and security when needed to thank employees for the great work that they are doing,” Kalungu observed.

She commended the KPLC employees for their work, urging them to keep up so they can achieve their corporate objectives.
This comes after a viral clip showed a KPLC officer being allegedly `assaulted’ by Mbai.
Mbai claimed that the officer identified had removed electric poles leading to his house at Kitengela, Kajiado County.
The officer, who had been accompanied to the MP’s house by KPLC security and two regular police officers, did not retaliate.
Defending himself, Mbai said he had been invaded by the KPLC staff at his house.
Reached by safinews.co.ke on Tuesday 4th July, Mbai replied that he was fighting back the people who’d invaded him. “I had to fight back. The viral video you are talking about has been edited to only show me fighting back,” he remarked.
In the video, Mbai is heard telling the KPLC official that it was wrong to disconnect instead of heeding to President William Ruto’s advisory on rural electrification
“My friend, listen to me, President William Ruto has been on record telling you that once you spot a power line in a rural home, talk to the owner we calculate the amount of money one is owed by the company instead of disconnecting, aren’t you hearing,” Mbai asked furiously
Before the bizarre incident which went viral on Monday 3rd July, Mbai had demanded the KPLC officials to call their vehicle which they’d used to disconnect, although they were adamant, provoking him to attempt to slap one of the power official so that he can make a call to reinstall the power line
The KPLC officer however said that the connection to the home was illegally installed.
