Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has accused police over extrajudicial killings during the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya coalition’s demonstrations
Speaking on Tuesday 25th July, Owino told the court to order police who had detained him and youth activist Calvin Okatch alias Gaucho to release their phones immediately
“We are marking you!. We are noting you! You stole our phones! Why am I saying you stole our phones because you took our phones off without our consent i dont don’t know what you are doing with my phones,” Babu asked
The vocal legislator asked Miliman Law Court where he was freed on to order those police officers to give back their phones.
“Like mine, am a Member of Parliament and need to serve my people. How will I communicate to my constituents and serve them effectively,” Babu requested.
He further warned police officers planning and executing extrajudicial killings and torturing innocent Kenyans that, people are still watching them
He wondered how could police officers be happy while killing their relatives and family members while they [protesters] are demanding sanity that will also see their salaries be increased
Owino reminded President William Ruto to walk the talk when he announced that he does not entertain extrajudicial killings asking the police to be sober and follow the prescribed police acts
“Mr President, you said you don’t entertain extrajudicial killings. What are you doing right now. The police officers who have killed protesters should have been in jail right now,” He added
Additionally, Babu noted that Azimio leader Raila Odinga doesn’t command police instead the ball stops at the former
“Thus why am advising your spouses to pray for you. We don’t need your prayers instead be derected to you and DP Gachagua,” He reiterated
On matters of postponing tomorrow’s countrywide demonstrations, the second term legislator noted that he abides by what baba has said however wants demos to resume on Thursday 27th July after tomorrow’s vigils on Wednesday 26th July so that government can here the voice of the people
