The US Court sitting in Florida has released a kenyan nurse Abedinecho Kyalo Katue from the custody after posting bond following his arrest over allegations of sexual misconduct involving an umputee patient at an Orlando hospital.
Popularly known Kamba TiktoKer Katue, 46, who hails from Kibwezi had been held at Orange County Jail after authorities arrested him in connection with claims of inappropriate behaviour involving a patient at AdventHealth hospital in Orlando.
Investigators said the incident occurred in January 2025 and involved a patient who was recovering from a leg amputation and confined to a bed.
Kenyans living in US had already contributed Ksh 9.6 million immediately after he was arrested and as of Tuesday, they wired Ksh400, 000 to the attorney in order to secure his bond release after lessening the case.
According to investigators, Katue entered the patient’s room several times during the night and made remarks the patient considered inappropriate.
Authorities alleged that the situation later escalated during what Katue reportedly described as a medical check.
The patient reported the incident to hospital staff immediately. The hospital then opened an internal inquiry and sent Katue home while the matter was under review. Law enforcement later continued the investigation and located Katue nearly a year after the alleged incident, leading to his arrest.
A court in Orlando set bond at 75,000 US dollars. Under the terms of the bond, about 10 per cent, approximately 7,500 dollars, had to be paid to secure his temporary release. Supporters said the amount was difficult to raise because additional collateral, including property, was required.
Members of the Kenyan diaspora in the United States organised fundraising efforts to help cover the bond. Katue’s former wife, Rebecca Samuel, was credited by supporters for helping to coordinate the campaign.
Katue now faces felony charges related to the alleged abuse of a disabled patient. The case remains under investigation and further court proceedings are expected
