The Ukambani Governors have laid down the plans to increase Masinga dam water levels which serves Machakos and Kitui County respectively with fresh clean water

In a consultative meeting which was held on Monday 16th January, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and her counterpart Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe engaged Water PS Dr Kipronoh Ronoh at Masinga Dam over plans to increase water supply in both counties

The both leaders met Dr Kipronoh at the Masinga Dam water intake following his visit to water projects in both counties

The meeting’s agenda was to evaluate the possibility of expanding and extending the Masinga dam intake thereby increasing its water capacity to make both counties water sufficient.

During President Ruto’s visit to Kitui and Machakos recently, Governor Malombe called on the head of state to intervene and support this project to help curb water scarcity in the region and offer a sustainable solution to both counties.

Governor Malombe further said leaders must offer solutions in accordance with the law and must not politicize projects meant to deliver growth to mwananchi.

“As leaders, we must not fight for the small cake, we have a duty to see ways of expanding the source. We must engage technical people and engineers. You cannot employ political tactics and statements to offer technical solutions”. He said.

The Governor further revealed that President Ruto reached out to TANATHI CEO through a phone call enquiring on the estimated cost of the project which quoted at sh. 500 million.
