Nairobi Azimio supporters are now blaming president Uhuru Kenyatta fr misleading Raila Odinga by giving Polycarp Igathe Azimio Ticket instead of Richard Ngatia whom they say was the best choice to face UDAs candidate Johnson Sakaja.
Led by Edwin Ochieng diehard supporter of Raila Odinga in the city,said it was a sad affair to lose both presidency and Nairobi Governor seats.
“Uhuru messed Raila over Nairobi Azimio candidate, Ngatia was our perfect and preferred choice,right now as Azimio we could be having Governor in Nairobi, Igathe was below average, no one knew him in this city, Raila was dumped,”Ochieng lamented.
Three months to the just concluded general elections, the then Azimio candidate for gubernatorial race Nairobi County Richard Ngatia he had warned Jubilee not to impose a candidate to voters who is unpopular likes of Igathe,but the party neglected.
“Nairobi doesn’t need someone who is unpopular, because if we bring someone on board not known then be assured we won’t get this seat as Azimio, it will be a disaster not only to Governor position but also presidential, “Ngatia predicted.
Ngatia during his campaigns, he had mastered city politics and had a massive following in the city,and he had resonated well with all level of city residents,raging from low class,middle and high class.
Ngatia was later cut short and his ambition of becoming Governor of Nairobi ended in vain,after Uhuru settled on Polycarp Igathe to carry the Azimio flag.
Ngatia had promised to mobilize busines community in Nairobi and kikuyu community at large and bring on board over eight hundred thousand votes to Raila Odinga.
In the just concluded elections, Igathe was deafeted by Sakaja with over one hundred and fifty thousand votes.
