Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has defended himself regarding personal security and administrative issues surrounding his Deputy Governor Philemonah Kapkory

Appearing before the Senate Committee on Devolution Chaired by Marsabit Senator Mohammed Chute, Natembeya claimed that his DG started disrespecting him when Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for not visited the county

“The problem with my Deputy started when Deputy President came to Transo Nzoia and said that whoever is not in the meeting will not be part of them.

I was not invited in the said meeting and had taken my child in school, therefore there was no way could gate crash government’s function. However, she took up the issue and started disrespecting me thinking that will be directed how to do things by national government,” Natembeya defended

On the question on ethnic representation in the county executive where Kisii Senator Richard Inyonka mentioned several Chief Officers who are alleged to be related

Natembeya quashed the said names stating that the individuals mentioned are not related and were appointed on merits not nepotism as alluded by the petitioners

“My father was born alone in this world!. My mother had three brothers, one died and another one migrated to Uganda. I don’t know Mr Waswa nor where he comes from. I never knew CO for Lands Nashiambada because she was appointed by the county board by merits. Mr Mulupi ain’t my in-law this is mudslinging,” he responded wondering of the gravio8s allegations levelled against him

He stated that Governor doesn’t employ public officers in he county ss it’s the responsibility of the county board which has been hiring on merits. The major ethnic groups have 45 per cent of representation and other communities have gotten at least 10 per cent including people living with disability

When it came to recruitment of his staffs, Natembeya said that has been ensurung there’s balance in every department

“Every MCS is given 1.5 M for development and have never refused to go to any ward because certain MCA belongs to UDA or whichever party. I don’t do that because all the people have equal rights for development,” he stated

Mr Natembeya said he don’t believe his relationship with DG is irredeemably and unsolvable. “I just wanted her to answer where she was on 14th August and will be satisfied,” he pointed out underlining that all other matters are petty and politically solvable
