Access Bank Kenya [PLC] and the National Bank of Kenya [NBK] have jointly signed a new partnership that allows customers of both banks to access basic services seamlessly in-branches, across their networks.

The program, which was unveiled on Tuesday 23rd September, will have the tellers in either of these two banks handle daily transactions such as cash deposits, withdrawals, fund transfers, and account balances.

They collectively boast more than 100 national branches, and the merger is poised to bring added convenience to banking, extend reach, and multiply service delivery.

Customers have been assured that their existing accounts, cards, cheque books, and digital channels remain the same and completely secure.

Access Bank Kenya Managing Director Ralph Opara welcomed the milestone with optimism, saying it testifies to the two institutions’ quest to simplify banking.

“By opening our networks to each other’s customers, we are making banking simpler, faster, and more accessible. This step also shows our commitment to delivering more choice, better digital services, and improved financial solutions,” said Opara.

The banks said the ongoing integration will also create opportunities for the different market segments. Retail and SME clients will have access to wider and more stable digital platforms, while corporate and multinational clients will benefit from cross-border trade finance and treasury services through Access Bank’s hubs in the UK, Dubai, China, Malta, France, India, Lebanon, and Hong Kong.

Public sector clients will continue to enjoy NBK’s years of experience, now enhanced by digital solutions in collection, disbursements, and inclusion drives.

NBK Managing Director George Odhiambo said that the partnership illustrates how the banking industry can deliver value to the customer through partnerships.

“Our customers remain at the heart of everything we do. This partnership with Access Bank Kenya proves that unity can lead to enhanced services, empower communities, and advance Kenya’s economic growth,” Odhiambo said.

The two banks repeated that the step falls under a broader plan to render banking more convenient and customer-focused, and to propel Kenya’s growing financial ecosystem.

With the changes now in effect, Access Bank Kenya and NBK customers can expect more integrated services, fewer barriers to transactions, and greater access to financial services throughout Kenya
