The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage, State Department for Wildlife, Silvia Museiya Kihoro has today donated foods and other assorted foodstuffs to Laikipia Rehabilitation Rescue Centre [CEDEC]
In her statement represented by Secretary Administrator to the Ministry, state department for wildlife, John Chelimo, noted that they will continue nurturing the talents for the children leaving in rehabilitation centres as well supporting them
“we have received the challeges the institution is facing and we shall pass the message to the PS to support where necessary, when she was chosing Laikipia had good intents and I know she’s coming very soon,’’ Chelimo stated.
Mr Chelimo who was accompanied by over 20 officers from the state department of wildlife planted over three hundred seedlings at the rehabilitation centre to impelement presidential directive of planting 15 billion seedlings by 2035
“We have five thousand seedlings in our stores for Laikipia County, we are heading to Rumuruti from here, and then we finalize at Mukogodo forest.
We started with Bomet County, Naivasha and we shall be going to Meru county very soon in partnership with the Equity Bank,’’ He added.
He further urged residents to take advantage of the ongoing rainy season to plant trees and grow them in a bid to address the adverse effects of global warming and implementing government’s agenda of forest cover
They were hosted by Laikipia East Assitant Sub County Commissioner Ms Monica Muthoni, Nanyuki Central Assistant County Commissioner Marycatherine Kirogo and Laikipia North Assistant County Commissioner Ronald Odhiambo among other government and county officials
They all disclosed that the government had intensified campaigns on tree planting exercise across the vast county of Laikipia, urging all other development partners to support them achieve green vegetation cover
