Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko who’s now running for Mombasa gubernatorial seat has seen a sigh of relief after the two petitioners who were challenging his candidature dropped their case from Mombasa high court

The duo, Ndoro Kayuga and George Odhiambo are alleged to have been paid by Mombada based politicians to move to court with a reason to bar Sonko from contesting the gubernatorial seat

Speaking to Journalists on Thursday 28th April, they said their petition was  politically choreographed and there’s no reason to continue challenging his ambitions

“We have come to understand that it was a political witch-hunting and a lot of money were paid to challenge the wiper party and IEBC move.

“This is to tell the whole country that we have moved to court to demand withdrawal of the petition and we shall never engage in such barbaric act,”. They said.

Earlier reports

safinews.co.ke had on Tuesday 26th April, 2022 reported that Sonko was made to fly on a Wiper party ticket to succeed from ODM’s governor Ali Hassan Joho

But, however, Sonko was to face challenges after orchestrated plan that had been filed as urgency in court to stop him

The Oluga & Company Advocates listed Wiper Party to have violated the law by handing over nomination certificate to a person who was removed from office by a way of impeachment process

The petitioners through  their lawyer argued that the first respondent (Mike Sonko Mbuvi Gidion Kioko) was unfit, disqualified from holding any state office and should not be elected into any state office or given a chance to hold a state office
